Zadar

Description

The Croatian city of Zadar is the centre of the northern region of Dalmatia and is its historical centre. It faces the Ugljan and Pašman islands and covers an area of around 194 square kilometres - including its islands. The city is home to around 75,000 residents, making it the fifth largest Croatian city as well as the second-largest city in Dalmatia - next to Split.

Zadar is divided into several smaller local districts and the administrative area of Zadar comprises villages such as Babindub, Kožino, Crno and Petrčane as well as a number of islands. It features a rather humid Mediterranean climate and the best time to visit the city is during the season of summer when the temperatures are delightfully warm.

With Zadar being a historical centre, travellers will be offered a wealth of historic attractions and places-of-interest for sight-seeing options. Travellers will witness an abundance of Roman ruins, medieval churches and museums, providing a glimpse into the fascinating past of the city. Some of the main attractions in the city include the streets of the old town, Archaeological Museum and the well-preserved ruins of the Roman Forum.

Zadar Airport is the main airport serving the city of Zadar and is located a few kilometres away from the Zadar railway station, in the municipality of Zemunik Donji. It is a fairly busy airport in Croatia and serves numerous airlines and hundreds of thousands of passengers throughout the year.

Finding Halal food in Zadar will prove to be rather difficult since there are no known Halal restaurants in Zadar. However vegetarian cuisine should be available at most restaurants in Zadar and it is recommended that you enquire about how food is prepared prior to dining.
