Bansko is one of the best ski resorts in Bulgaria. Once a quiet village, Bansko has developed to become one of the most exciting places to visit in Bulgaria. The area was inhabited during the 10th century and by the 18th century it became a wealthy settlement and an important stopover between the trade route from Aegean coast toDanubian Europe. There are numerous museums and cultural attractions dotted all across Bansko that travellers would love to visit during their stay.
The town is quite compact and walking around is the best way to see the area. Taxis are also available easily but it is best to decide on the rates before hiring. The Belitsa Bear Park is located about 33km from Bansko and is a great place for animal lovers. The town is quite picturesque and visitors can take lifts to reach the ski tracks.
