Veliko Tŭrnovo is one of the oldest communities in Bulgaria. The city is quite pretty and is settled on hills. The historic part of Veliko Tŭrnovo is located over three hills and features a number of monuments and museums. The ruins of the Tsarevets Fortress along with the Royal Palace and the Patriarchal Palace are worth seeing. There is an art museum located on the island in the river. During the Middle Ages, Veliko Tŭrnovowas at its peak. The city offers excellent connectivity to Sofia and Varna.
The Old Town is surrounded by medieval walls and is quite excellent to visit. The nearby old town of Arbanassi is located about 4km from Veliko Tŭrnovo and is a good place to visit.
