Plovdiv is a beautiful city located along the Maritsa River in Bulgaria. The city having seen different rulers over the centuries offers a mix of East and West. Plovdiv is quite picturesque and is home to several gardens, monuments, museums and art galleries. The Old Town area in Plovdiv is of particular mention and resembles an open-air museum. There are several houses in the area from the 18th and 19th centuries. The ancient theater is one of the most impressive sites in Plovdiv.
The modern city center of Plovdiv is filled with people and is surrounded by several cafes and restaurants. The Tsar Simeon Garden close to the modern city center is quite impressive and great to relax around. Apart from being an important travel destination Plovdiv also is a great base for exploring the surrounding destinations. The city is built over seven hills and even though one is now erased but four can still be seen. Since ancient times, Plovdiv has been one of the main travel destinations in Bulgaria.
