Duong Dong is the main town in PhuQuoc and also the main fishing port. The town is located on the central west coast and is home to most of the hotels and resorts of PhuQuoc. The Cau Castle in the town features a lighthouse and also gives an interesting view of the harbor. The Long Beach is the prime attraction of the town. It is a long stretch of white sandy beach and allows visitors to enjoy a variety of water sports.
There are several pearl farms just south of Duong Dong, visitors can not only see the entire process of pearl farming but can also buy pearls from the shop at the farms. A few kilometers east of Duong Dong is a path meandering through forests that takes visitors to the SuoiTranh waterfalls. The Ham Ninh fishing village close to Duong Dong also makes a wonderful place to visit. From the old bridge in the town, visitors can get beautiful views of harbor.
The Duong Dong market located in the town center is the largest market on the island. The market is bustling with activity and there are numerous food stalls lined along the market. The shops in the market sell all items of basic necessities and art and craft items. For those looking for up market shopping can visit the shops in the resorts. In the resort shops visitors can easily find pearl jewelry, postcards, souvenirs and other items.
Duong Dong is served by the PhuQuoc International Airport. The airport has regular flights flying in from the Ho Chi Minh City Airport. Taxis are conveniently available from the airport to the town. Many hotels also offer airport pickups.
