Boasting smooth sand and clear water, Mae Nam Beach is one of the most picturesque beaches on KoSamui. The beach is a 7 kilometer stretch of golden sand flanked by turquoise blue water, located on the northern shore of the island, and offers amazing views of KoPhangan. For Muslim travellers there are a few halal facilities around the Mae Nam Beach.
The waters around Mae Nam are unusually calm, giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy a swim under the sun. The beach is lined with palm trees giving several parts of the beach natural shade. The sunset views from the eastern end of the beach are amazing. The main ring road runs through the area making it easily accessible. The nearby village of Bophut is not far from Mae Nam Beach and there are a few attractions around the area that visitors can enjoy. Mae Nam Beach is set inside, hence it offers a quiet solace for visitors. The beach is often overlooked by visitors but is definitely worth visiting as it is less crowded and is ideal for families. From the Mae Nam Pier ferries are available at regular intervals that take visitors to Ko Tao and KoPhangan.
There are numerous resorts and beach cafes that can be seen lining the area. There is a golf course close to the beach, the Santiburi Golf Course and Country Club where visitors can enjoy a game. Every Thursday evening a Walking-Street Market is organized just off the beach. There are several stalls set up in the market where visitors can buy local items, jewellery and other items. There are several shops around the Ring Road of Mae Nam where visitors can find jewellery, antiques, gemstones, clothing, etc.
Accommodation around Mae Nam Beach is also good. Visitors looking to enjoy a picturesque and relaxed holiday will find the Mae Nam Beach to be a great choice.
The nearest airport is the KoSamui Airport. Taxis and buses are available from the airport and Chaweng Beach. A songthaew(shared taxi) from Chaweng costs around 50-100 baht.
There are a few halal restaurants around Mae Nam that offer local delicacies and seafood. Just a few minutes from Mae Nam Beach are the BophutVillage and the Chaweng Beach that offer some good halal restaurants.
The only mosque on KoSamui is the Masjid Nurulihsanwhich is around 15-20 minutes away from Mae Nam Beach.
