The Phi Phi Islands is an archipelago of six islands, part of the Krabi Province and is located in Southern Thailand. It is among the most beautiful and easily accessible islands of the country. For Muslim visitors the Phi Phi Islands offer a wide range of halal facilities as most of the population on the island consists of Muslims. The entire area of the Phi Phi Islands are a part of a marine national park and spotting different types of marine life in the area is not rare.
The six islands that form the Phi Phi Islands include Ko Phi Phi Don, Phi PhiLeh, Mai Phai, Yung Island, Bida Nok Island and BidaNai Island. Ko Phi Phi Don is the biggest of the islands and also the only populated one in the archipelago. The other islands are also accessible and have some beautiful beaches, making them ideal for a day-trip. Good accommodation facilities are available for visitors on Ko Phi Phi Don. The waters around the Phi Phi Islands are clear and excellent for diving and snorkelling. The Viewpoint on the Phi Phi Islands is a must-visit. The climb takes around 10-15 minutes and offers amazing views of the entire island. There are several beaches on the Ko Phi Phi Don that are excellent to relax and have a swim. Some of the best beaches on the island include Monkey Beach, Yao Beach, Lanti Beach, HinKhao Beach, etc.
Phi Phi Leh, which is the next largest of the Phi Phi Islands also offers some good attractions like the Phaya Naak Cave, Lohsamah Bay and Maya Bay.
The Phi Phi Islands are not known to offer great shopping options. Since all the things are brought from the mainland, shopping on the island is expensive. However visitors can find some local handicrafts and other items that are crafted by local fishermen here.
The nearest airport to the Phi Phi Islands is the Krabi International Airport. From Krabi regular ferries are available to Phi Phi Islands. The island is around 42 Km from Krabimainland. The journey from the piers takes around 2 hours and can cost from 150-350 baht. Boats are also available from Ao Nang and Railey. The other airport close to the Phi Phi Islands is the Phuket International Airport. From the airport the Rassada Pier is around one hour away. From the Rassada Pier ferries leave for Phi Phi Islands and the journey takes around 2 hours.
There are a number of halal restaurants in the Phi Phi Islands. It is best to inform the manager at the hotel or resort about halal food requirement prior to arrival so that they can make suitable arrangements.
There is just one mosque in the Phi Phi Island, the Al-Islah Mosque. The mosque is located on Ko Phi Phi Don and is a beautiful building that is quite prominent.
