The town of Side was earlier known as Selimiye. The name Side was chosen because in the historic time on the same site the ancient city by the same name stood. There are several Roman ruins that can be seen around the area till date. The Roman baths and the huge amphitheatre and the Temple of Apollo are just a few ruins that can be seen around Side. The Side Archaeology Museum is one of the must visit places in the town. It houses some of the best artefacts collected from the surrounding areas.
Side boasts of some beautiful beaches. The town is blessed with a beautiful coastline giving visitors a chance to enjoy the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. There are two beaches on either ends of Side that are equally good to visit and have fun. A few miles from the city center is the Manavgat waterfall. It is an excellent stop on the way to the town. Around the waterfalls there are several shops and cafes for the convenience of visitors.
Side is known for its shops that sell traditional and modern clothes. Visitors can feel free to bargain with the shopkeepers and explore the entire market to get the best deal. Since there are several shops, you should be prepared to literally get pulled into them.

Nearby Airports

The nearest airport to Side is the Antalya Airport. From Antalya visitors can board the Antalya-Manavgat bus and get off at Side. A one-way ticket costs TL 10. From the get off point free minibuses are available that take visitors to the historical side of Side.

Halal Restaurants

Side has a number of halal restaurants where visitors can dine. Around the beachfront and the promenade there are a number of cafes and restaurants serving local cuisine and delicious international food. Visitors can enquire with locals or at the hotel about availability of halal food in Side. The Side Yesiloz Hotel serves halal food.

There are a few mosques in Side. The Fatith Mosque and the Selimiye Mosque are the main mosques in Side. There are several other mosques around the area that can be located easily.
