Karon Beach

Description

Along the west coast of Phuket just south of Patong is the beautiful Karon Beach. Karon Beach is among the longest beaches in Phuket, stretching over 3 kilometers long. Visitors to Karon Beach are sure to enjoy its quiet atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The close proximity to Patong makes Karon Beach a favoured destination among Muslim visitors to Phuket. Karon Beach practically lies between the Patong and Kata Beaches. There are several resorts and luxury hotels around Karon Beach and the main town that cater to the needs of visitors to the area.

Karon Beach is focused around three main areas, namely the Karon Plaza, Hilton Phuket Arcadia and the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. The area around Karon Plaza has a number of guesthouses, restaurants and shops. There is a small street from the side of Karon Plaza that leads to a tiny art community. Here visitors can see a number of huts, shops and art galleries decorated by young Thai artists. The central part of Karon consists of Hilton Phuket Arcadia and the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort.

Just walking north of central Karon is the Aroona Plaza where visitors can find several handicraft shops, cafes and restaurants. The beachside avenue is quite wide and excellent for taking a refreshing evening stroll. The Dino Park Mini Golf park is a wonderful place for the entire family to have some fun.

Kata Beach also comes under Karon and is a beautiful beach to spend some time at. Karon Beach offers visitors an array of fun and exciting activities. At the northern end of the beach is a lake, around which, the beach is usually secluded.

Karon Market is a good place to get some shopping in. The market sells everything from fresh vegetables to electronics, clothes and different accessories. There are also several shops around Aroona Plaza that offer a number of local items.

The nearest airport to the Karon Beach is the Phuket International Airport. The drive from the airport to Karon Beach is about 1 hour. Metered yellow taxis usually charge 650 Baht for transfers from the airport to Karon Beach.

Halal Restaurants

There are several restaurants around Karon Beach but their halal authenticity is not confirmed. It is best to ask around with locals. Visitors can find a number of halal restaurants in Patong about 10-15 minutes away from the Karon Beach.
