Chiang Mai is a beautiful cosmopolitan city in Thailand that serves as an excellent travel destination. For those looking for a fun place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, there can be no better place than Chiang Mai. The city is located in northern Thailand and is known as the second city of Thailand. Chiang Mai offers an eclectic mix of the old and new and is famed to be the historic capital of the country. For Muslim travellers, Chiang Mai offers good halal facilities. The city has a decent population of Muslims residing in the areas of Chang Peuak, Ban Haw, SouthChangklan and Sanphakoi.

Chiang Mai is an exclusive destination where visitors can enjoy the best of nature and man-made attractions. The museums in Chiang Mai give visitors a peek into the history and culture of the area. Some of the museums worth visiting include the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center, Chiang Mai University Art Museum, Chiang Mai National Museum, Chiang Mai Numismatic Museum and Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders. The city also has a number of beautiful gardens like the Dokmai Garden. The DoiSuithep National Park, Opkhan National Park and the Phuping Palace and National Park are excellent places to visit.

Chiang Mai is a great place for shopping. There are several local markets and bazaars where shoppers can find authentic local handicrafts and other items. Among the best places to shop in Chiang Mai the Night Bazaar is a must visit. The Warorot Market, KadSuanKeaw Mall, the Sunday Walking Market and the Saturday Walking Market are also good places for shopping.

Nearby Airports

The city is served by the Chiang Mai International Airport, which caters to domestic and international flights. The airport is located about 3 Km from the city center and can be reached by private cars, taxis and buses. Airport taxis charge 120 Baht for playing visitors to any place in the city. Metered taxis charge fares starting from 40-50 Baht. Buses are also available from the airport to the city, a one-way trip costs around 50-60 Baht for every passenger.

Halal Restaurants

Chiang Mai has a number of halal restaurants where visitors can dine. Some of the best places where visitors can find halal food in Chiang Mai include Arabia, Shere Shiraz, Le Spice, Asma, etc. At these places visitors can relish a variety of cuisines including South Asian, Thai, and Indian.

Mosques

The city is home to 12 mosques which serve its local Muslim community as well as Muslim tourists with facilities to conduct all five prayers every day. The ChiangMai Masjid also known as the Ban Haw Masjid is the oldest masjid in the city, located close to the night bazaar. The other mosques in Chiang Mai include the Chang Phuak Mosque and the San Pa Khoi Mosque.
