Hiroshima is a modern city that has come a long way from the horrific incident faced in 1945. After the incident several efforts were put in to revive the city and develop into what the city is today. Many of the historical heritage sites that were destroyed during the attack were built again. Some of these sites are the Hiroshima Castle and the Shukkeien Garden. The Miyajima Island is at a day-trip from Hiroshima.
The Peace Memorial Park is where all the memorials related to the bombing have been placed. Within the park are the Children's Peace Monument, the A-Bomb Dome, Atomic Bomb Memorial Mound, and Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and the Peace Memorial Museum.Apart from the Peace Memorial park, there are a number of attractions inside the Chuo Park. Other attractions in the city include some interesting museums like the Hiroshima City Transportation Museum, Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art and the Mazda Museum.
Hiroshimaalso offers some good shopping. There are a number of shops around JR Hiroshima Station. Some good shopping malls in the city are SunMall, Tokyu Hands,PARCO, Fukuya (Ekimae), DeoDeo, Deo Deo Neverland, etc.
Hiroshima is served by the Hiroshima Airport. The airport connects caters to domestic air traffic. There is a regular bus service from the airport to the JR Hiroshima Station and the Hiroshima Bus Center. A one-way ticket by bus to the JR Hiroshima Station costs 1300 Yen and the journey time is around 48 minutes and a one-way ticket by bus to the Hiroshima Bus Center costs 1300 Yen and the journey time is around 51-53 minutes.
