The city center of Lille is quite attractive and compact. Most of the sights of Lille can be covered on foot and this is the best way of connecting with the locals. The main square of the city Place du Général-de-Gaulle has several historic houses and beautiful pieces of architecture. The La Vieille Bourse is a beautiful stretch between the Place du Théâtreand the Place du Général-de-Gaulle worth visiting. A little further from the city center is the La Citadelle is a wonderful example of military architecture. The zoo is also located in the same area.
Lille has numerous interesting museums like the Museum of Natural History,LAM - Lille Art Modern Museum,Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse, and the Musée des Beaux-Art. The town hall in the city is also good to visit. A walk through the old part of the city is highly recommended. The area is known as Vieux Lille and boasts of cobble-stone streets lined with upscaleboutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Lille also offers a wonderful shopping experience. The streets around the Grand Place have several clothing stores and restaurants. Euralille is among the largest shopping centers in the city and offers good clothing options. The Vieux Lille has several boutiques and stores selling fashionable items.
The Lille Lesquin International Airport serves the city of Lille. There is a bus service available from the airport to the city center every 20 minutes. A one-way bus ticket costs around 7 Euros. A taxi ride ideally costs around 20 Euros for a one-way trip to the city center.
There are a few good Halal restaurants in Lille. These Halal restaurants include El-Manar, Maharani, Shahi Qila, Paradise Sushi, The Awakening of the Senses, etc. Visitors can get a taste of French, Indian, Lebanese and Japanese cuisines at these restaurants. Also found here are La Menara, Mamma Teresa, La Villa Marrakech, and Soleil d’Agadir – all of which are Arabic restaurants, and Le Masala Street which, true to its name, is Indian.
