Lourdes is a picturesque town located in the French Pyrenees. The town was quite sleepy till the mid-19th century when a shepherd girl witnessed a miracle of seeing Virgin Mary. The attractions in the town mainly consist of the basilica, the miracle spring and museums dedicated to the life of St Bernadette.
The view from Château-Fort de Lourdes is beautiful. The castle also houses the Musée Pyrénéen which showcases regional art and craft items. The marketplace in Lourdes is quite lively and visitors can get a chance to buy regional handicraft items. There are numerous shops across the town selling different variety of items.
The nearest airport to Lourdes is the Tarbes-Lourdes Airport. It is located about 20 minutes from the town and caters to domestic and international air traffic. From the airport visitors can take buses which leave for the town at regular intervals.
