The existence of Kochi can be dated to the mid-14th century and many relics of the past can still be seen conspicuously in the city. The city is historically quite rich and has been under the rule of different dynasties including Arabs, Dutch, Chinese, British and Portuguese. Buses operate from the airport to the city and are of two types the super-fast express and the fast passenger buses. A one-way ticket on these buses can cost around INR 70 or more. There is a pre-paid taxi service that operates from the airport. The minimum charge for taxis is INR 400 for a distance of 22 Km and further INR 19 per Km for non-A/C cabs and INR 23 per Km for A/C cabs.
