Carvoeiro is a small town located in Algarve. The town was initially a small fishing village which has grown to become a popular tourist destination. The area has some signs of Roman inhabitation and there has been a long history in the area. The Lighthouse of Alfanzina is one of the prime attractions of Carvoeiro. The architecture of the lighthouse is quite amazing and is easily accessible to visitors.
The Fort of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação is the remains of a fortress which was constructed in 1670. Today the fort is a cultural attraction. The town also has a beach, the Praia do Carvoeiro which is a clean and beautiful beach. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of watersports including jet skiing. A few kilometers from Carvoeiro is another fantastic beach, the Praia da Marinha. The Praia da Marinha is one of the most popular beaches in the Faro district.
There are numerous shops around Carvoeiro where visitors can find a number of things and items of daily needs. There is a huge Intermarché located in the outskirts of Carvoeiro along the Lagoa Road.
