Historic Jackson Square, located in the heart of New Orleans’s famous French Quarter, is a timeless, must-visit attraction when in the city. The square faces the Mississippi River and is surrounded my numerous historic buildings which are also worth visiting. While here, visitors will come across the St. Louis Cathedral as well as the Lower and Upper Pontalba Apartments; known to be the oldest apartment buildings in the United States, among other popular sites like the Cabildo and the Presbytère. At the ground floor of the Pontalba Apartments, visitors will find a plethora of stores and restaurants, and museums and galleries to explore. Jackson Square also boasts a statue of Battle of New Orleans hero Andrew Jackson, in the shadows of which tourists will find local street artists creating beautiful works of art during the day. Those visiting the square must also make it a point to take a stroll through the stunning gardens that surround it.

While Jackson Square will not have prayer facilities for Muslim tourists, the city of New Orleans is home to quite a number of mosques and Islamic Centers. Muslims visiting the square can either find a clean and quiet place outdoors to offer their prayers, or they can use the facilities offered at one of the mosques in the city, such as New Orleans Masjid Al-Islam, the Islamic Center of New Orleans, Muhammad Mosque and Masjid ur-Rahim.
Visitors to Jackson Square will be able to locate a number of fabulous cafés and restaurants in the surrounding area, including ones in the Pontalba Buildings. While these establishments will not be Halal certified, Muslim visitors will certainly be able to find vegetarian and seafood dishes. Those visiting the city of New Orleans must make it a point to visit the world renowned Café du Monde, known for its delicious beignets.
