Dating back to the 13th century, Pazo de San Lorenzo, or the San Lorenzo mansion was a medieval monastery that was transformed into a palatial residence. The historic mansion was renovated and altered throughout the years, but Romanesque elements still exist. Now used as a catering establishment, Pazo de San Lorenzo is mostly visited for its beautiful gardens which are found inside and outside. Filled with a magnificent variety of colorful flowers and plants, the mansion’s garden is definitely worthy of a visit. The internal gardens are however incredibly special. This is surrounded by an almost square shaped cloister that is open on the lower floor and houses a clipped box garden that has become a mix of strange hieroglyphics over the years.
