The Palmeral of Elche or the Palm Grove of Elche, located in Alicante, is a formally laid out system of date palm orchards in the city of Elche. Known to be one of the largest palm groves in the world, the Palmeral of Elche was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dating back to the Iberian times, around the fifth century B.C., the Palmeral of Elche offers visitors a look into the unique agricultural practices of the Arabs. The Palmeral of Elche includes the Municipal Parc of Elche and numerous other orchards in Elche, which are absolute must-sees. Visitors must make it a point to take a leisurely stroll in the shade of the palm trees and take in the breathtaking surroundings of the only palm grove of its type on the European continent.
