Hard to miss when in Bilbao is the Zubizuri, also known as the Campo Volantin Bridge or Puente del Campo Volantin; a tied arch footbridge that spans the Nervion River. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava the Zubizuri links the Campo Volantin right bank and Uribitarte left bank of the river. Designed in a strange wave-like shape, this unique structures floor is made of glass panels which give those on the bridge a feeling of being suspended by air. Located near the Guggenheim Museum, the Zubizuri offers great views of the surrounding area, as well as the world-renowned museum. This stunning white bridge, although incredibly popular, has been criticized for the impracticality of its glass floors which tend to get slippery when it rains.
