Museo Correr in Venice is a prominent museum located in Piazza San Marco - the principal public square of the city. Established in 1830, the art museum is a historic site and offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich art and history of Venice with a wide rage of collections and exhibits. The first floor of Museo Correr showcases Venetian life and culture over the years and highlights important historical events that have taken place in the past. The museum's art collection is divided into two - one dedicated to works of art by 15th-17th century artists and the other that focuses on Venetian paintings up to the 16th century. Visitors will also be able to see maiolica-work and carved ivories and a visit to the museum is recommended for travellers sight-seeing in Venice.
