Originally known as Tangi Te Keo in Māori, Mount Victoria towers over the east of Wellington at a height of 196 metres. It is often referred to as simply Mount Vic by locals and is well-known for being an excellent lookout point. Mount Victoria Lookout offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding city and landscape and has been a location for many movies in the past - including the famous The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Travellers will be able to take in sweeping views of Tinakori Hill, Hut Valley and Eastern harbour bays, Matiu/Somes Island and the Miramar Peninsula in the distance, with a wealth of photography opportunities on offer. The area is the ideal spot for a picnic to just sit back and unwind, while watching the ships sail into the harbour.

The view from Mount Victoria Lookout
Though designated prayer facilities at Mount Victoria will be unavailable for Muslim travellers, plenty of open area will be available to use during prayer times.
