Oriental Bay Beach is located in close proximity to Wellington's central business district at the harbour and is one of the closest and the most popular beaches around Wellington. The beach area is popular amongst both locals and tourists - particularly during summer, when it transforms into a hive of bustling activity. Two of the most prominent features of the Bay include the wooden barge and the Carter Fountain - a fountain that shoots water 16 metres into the air. Due to its popularity as an attraction, plenty of accommodation options and shopping opportunities will be available in the area.
