The zoo, just 10 minutes away from the heart of the city, is housed in the wooded park area of the famous Citadel, designed by Vauban. The park and woodland surrounding the Citadel extends over 50 hectares and is popular among joggers and families who are out to visit the zoo or to relax in the park. Muslim visitors requiring prayer facilities in Lille will be able to locate them without much difficulty as the city is known to house a number of masjids. Masjid Al Imaan de Lille, Masjid Al Houda de Lille, Masjid Al Furqaan de Lille and Masjid Badr de Lille are some of the more prominent mosques that are frequented by the residents of Lille and Muslim tourists alike. Those visiting the zoo could ask the staff or find out at the hotel if there is a mosque nearby.
While there may not be any Halal food at the zoo, Muslim tourists will be able to locate a few good Halal restaurants in the city of Lille; serving a range of cuisine such as Indian, French, Lebanese and more. Those unable to locate these restaurants will have to dine on vegetarian or seafood dishes after ensuring non-halal items are not used in the ordered dish. They should also be aware that these restaurants may serve alcohol and may also use them in their food.
