Also known as Hamilton Lake Domain, Lake Rotoroa is a large lake in Hamilton, covering an area of over 50 hectares. It is the biggest lake in Hamilton and is a popular spot amongst locals for a wide range of recreational activities. Small boats and canoes are a common sight at the lake and it is host to many sports throughout the year including yachting, dragon boating and regular sailing during the summer. Several short bush walks as well as a small golf green are located towards the west of the lake and provide spectacular views of the surrounding scenery. It is very a very popular venue for walking and running and offers a 4 kilometre scenic path that winds its way around the lake. Lake Rotoroa's picture perfect scenery provide plenty of photography opportunities and a visit is recommended for travellers sight-seeing in Hamilton – for nature enthusiasts in particular.
