The beautiful Hamilton Gardens is the most popular attraction in the Waikato region and attracts over a million visitors annually. Located between the Waikato River bank and State Highway 1, Hamilton Gardens was established in the 1960s and cover over four acres of land area. It features a number of garden collections - the Paradise Garden Collection, the Productive Garden Collection, the Fantasy Garden Collection, the Cultivar Garden Collection and the Landscape Garden Collection - which are further divided onto smaller gardens. Thousands of events are held at Hamilton Gardens each year - ranging from arts festivals to flower exhibitions. The garden has also been the winner of several awards in the past including the International Garden of the Year award in 2014 and is well-worth a visit when sight-seeing in Hamilton.
