Bentota's beaches are its main attraction. Bentota beaches are considered to be some of the finest beaches in the country and are extremely popular amongst both tourists and locals alike. The stretches of golden sand beaches extend for several kilometres and are lined by shady palm trees along the coast. The Bentota Beach is also an excellent area for water sports such as diving and windsurfing and is visited by numerous water sport enthusiasts throughout the year. Due to its popularity as a tourist spot, travellers will be offered a wide range of accommodation options - ranging from luxury resorts to budget hotels. The beach is also visited regularly by turtles and lucky travellers might be able to sight a few who visit the beach to nest.
