The Hikkaduwa Lake is a pleasant spot to drop by when sight-seeing in Hikkaduwa. Located along the Baddegama Road, the scenic fresh-water lake is about five kilometres away from the Hikkaduwa city centre and offers a fascinating way to observe the wildlife of the area. Flocks of exotic birds visit the lake frequently, providing plenty of photography opportunities. If lucky, travellers will also be able to spot a few monitor lizards and monkeys that reside around the area. Prawn fishing is another traditional activity that takes place at the lake and travellers may take a canoe ride during sunset, for an unforgettable experience.
