The Pettah Floating Market is one of Colombo's newer landmarks to be opened to the public in 2014. Located at Bastian Mawatha, on the massive Beira Lake, the floating market is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka and offers a unique shopping and dining experience in the heart of Colombo. Pettah Floating Market features nearly a hundred stalls and shops selling a variety of items ranging from local fruits and vegetables to garments to electronic items, all at very affordable prices. Numerous restaurants and eateries are also available within the market area and offer visitors a unique venue and atmosphere to dine. The main attraction of the floating market is the fantastic view that it offers visitors. In addition to the magnificent Beira lake, visitors will also be able to sit back at look at the trains passing by in the distance. Boat rides are also available during the weekend.
