Canal City Hakata

Canal City Hakata is a massive shopping complex in Fukuoka Japan and is often referred to as a "city within a city" due to its extensive facilities and area. The Canal City comprises over 250 shops as well as restaurants, cafes, cinemas, hotels and a game centre. The complex is built around an artificial canal which runs through it and has become an extremely popular spot amongst travellers and tourists in Fukuoka. The area is an excellent place for shopping and offers visitors a variety of items ranging from clothes to furniture to sundries. Entertainment options at the complex include a game arcade, theatre and cinema with 13 movie screens, offering plenty to do. The Canal City is located a short distance away from the Hakata and Tenjin stations and can be reached in a few minutes' walk.

A designated prayer room facility at Canal City Hakata might not be available but it is possible to enquire for a private area to use during prayer times. Muslim travellers who wish to visit a mosque can visit the Fukuoka Masjid - also known as the Al Nour Islamic Center - which is the only masjid in Fukuoka.

Halal Food

Though plenty of restaurants and cafes will be available at Canal City Hakata, the availability of Halal food may be limited for Muslim travellers. Travellers may opt for vegetarian or seafood dishes but the usage of pork is common and it is recommended that you enquire about how food is prepared prior to dining. Muslim travellers could visit some of the Halal restaurants around Fukuoka such as the Zaeka, Mr. Kebab, Kebabooz and Nabi San Halal, which are a few popular spots that are all located within city limits.
