Kitesurfing in Maenam

Description

Kitesurfing is becoming one of the most popular activities amongst tourists in Maenam. It is a hit watersport in Samui due to the area's ideal weather and climate conditions - with wind speeds ranging from 8 to 20 knots and pleasantly warm sea temperatures of around 26°C. Numerous kitesurfing and kiteboarding schools are available in Samui and Maenam is one of the most popular spots on the island. Equipment and facilities for all skill levels are available - be it a beginner or an expert. The best time of year for the sport is during the months of November to February - which is considered to be the kitesurfing season - while April and May are the least favourable months. Kitesurfing schools may also offer windsurfing lessons and other activities, offering visitors plenty to do.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim travellers looking for a mosque in Maenam will have to visit the Masjid Nurulihsan which is the only mosque in Ko Samui. It is located a short distance away – about 15-20 minutes away from Maenam. It is also possible to enquire with the staff at the kitesurfing centres for a private area that can be used during prayer times.

There are a few halal restaurants around Mae Nam that offer local delicacies and seafood. For more Halal dining options, it is possible to visit the restaurants at Bophut Village and the Chaweng Beach which are located a few minutes from Mae Nam Beach.
