Shark Bay in Ko Tao is home to the largest population of sharks around the island - mostly small black-tip reef sharks. Despite the large shark population, it is one of the most popular places in Ko Tao for snorkelling and scuba diving. Black-tip reef sharks are known for their non-aggressive and timid demeanour and pose no threat to humans, making swimming and snorkelling a wonderful experience. Travellers to Shark Bay will be offered an abundance of sights and will be paradise for all types of travellers – nature lovers in particular. The pleasant sunny climate of the area is also much loved by visitors and add to the relaxing atmosphere. A visit to Shark Bay is highly recommended when travelling in Ko Tao.

The black-tip reef sharks and other marine life
Though there are no mosques in Ko Tao itself, plenty of open private space will be available around the Shark Bay area to make use of during prayer times. The nearest mosques to Ko Tao are the mosques at Ko Phangan in Haad Ban Tai and the mosques in Ko Samui. The bigger and more prominent mosques are located in the larger cities of the country.
Access to Halal food around Shark Bay and Ko Tao may be limited. Visitors to Shark Bay are recommended to bring along their own food which can be obtained from the more prominent cities in Thailand. Muslim travellers may also head to Ko Samui which is home to quite a number of Halal food spots and a wealth of dining options offering a range of enticing fare.
