Located towards the southwest of the Old Town of Lijiang, Mu's Residence is a prominent landmark and attraction in the area. The residence spans across nearly 8 acres of land area and is located in close proximity to the Shizi Mountain - also known as Lion Mountain. Two main sections comprise Mu's Residence - the office area and the living area. Visitors to Mu's Residence will be able to note beautiful white marble balustrades, wood steles with writings, sutras, paintings and several calligraphy work by famous scholars. The architectural elements of the residence reflect the design styles of the region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and are believed to have been dedicated to the dignity of its rulers.

Though designated prayer facilities at Mu’s Residence for Muslim travellers will be unavailable, it is possible to enquire for a private area to make use of during prayer times. It is also possible for Muslim travellers to visit the only mosque in the city – the Lijiang Great Mosque – which is located at the Old Town of Lijiang.
