The Gate of China in Nanjing - also known as Zhonghua Gate - is an ancient Chinese defensive gate which is considered to be one of the most complex gate structures in the world. It is also the largest city gate to be styled in the form of a castle in the entire country. The gate was originally called the Gate of Gathering Treasure and is associated with numerous legends and folklore. It is made out of massive strip stones and large Chinese bricks and its intricate design and rich history has caused it to be listed on the cultural and scenic spots by the Jiangsu provincial government. It is presently a popular attraction and is worth-visiting for travellers sight-seeing in Nanjing.
