Fisher Girl Sculpture

Description

The sculpture of the Fisher Girl is considered to be the main landmark of the city of Zhuhai and is positioned at the Xianglu Bay. The granite structure measures over 8 metres in height and weighs an estimated massive 10 tonnes. The structure features a fisher girl holding a pearl high in the air with both hands and is noted for the many ancient legends that surround it. At present, it is considered to be the symbol of Zhuhai and is a both a cultural and historic icon in China. It is an extremely popular tourist attraction and flocks of travellers visit the area throughout the year. The structure is in the vicinity of several other prominent tourist attractions in Zhuhai such as the Zhuhai City Museum as well as a number of parks, giving travellers plenty of other-sightseeing options in the area.
