No trip to Sligo is complete without a pleasant boat trip on the scenic Lough Gill. Surrounded by woodland, this 8 kilometre long lake is one of Ireland’s most beautiful lakes. Visitors to the lake can enjoy some salmon or trout fishing, visit one of the numerous small islands, or just enjoy the scenery. There are traditional boats from Sligo Town that visitors can take to explore Lough Gill. The boat will take visitors past a number of places of interest such as the Isle of Innisfree and Parkes Castle. There is also a road around the Lough for those who wish to drive around it and explore the surrounding woodlands and its many nature trails.

Muslims visiting Lough Gill will not be able to find prayer facilities near the lake. If exploring it by road, visitors will be able to locate numerous secluded areas outdoors to offer their prayers. Muslim tourists could also visit the one known prayer facilities in Sligo, the Globe House Muslim Community.
While finding food outlets around Lough Gill will not be possible, visitors will be able to find plenty of restaurants in Sligo Town. Muslim visitors will however not be able to find any Halal restaurants here. They will therefore have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at a local restaurant since non-Halal ingredients are sure to be widely used.
