Although now the castle is in ruins, it is a great reminder of the different cultures that have left their mark in the city. Today, visitors can wander the castle’s well-manicured garden and marvel at the stunning view of the city and the mouth of the Gilão River, from the remaining battlements and towers, as Tavira Castle is located at the highest point of the region.
