A must visit when in the city of Évora's is the central Praça do Giraldo, or Giraldo Square. Used as an execution ground during the times of the Spanish Inquisition, the square truly has an interesting story to tell. Located in the heart of the city, and surrounded by a number of Évora's top historical attractions with impressive Romanesque and Gothic architecture, the bustling Praça do Giraldo is popular amongst locals and tourists and has become a favorite meeting place. The square is ideal for those looking to relax and people watch, and is also great for those looking to get some shopping done, as it houses a selection of great boutiques. It is also known to host a variety of street performers, and a weekend market. Visitors to the lively square will also come across numerous cafés and restaurants; at which during the summer they will be able to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee outdoors.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists will not be able to find prayer facilities at Praça do Giraldo. They will however be able to locate a mosque in the city of Évora, namely the Islamic Place of Worship of Évora. Muslim visitors can therefore ask the locals to direct them to this facility when needed.  

Halal Food

As mentioned above, Praça do Giraldo has a great selection of cafés and restaurants for visitors to choose from. While these dining establishments will not be Halal certified, Muslim visitors are sure to find suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes on the menu. There are also no known Halal restaurants in the city of Évora. Muslim tourists can get more information regarding the availability of Halal food at the local mosque.
