A great place for tourists to learn about Madeira’s history, culture and development is the unique Madeira Story Centre. Located in Funchal’s Old Town, this fantastic museum allows visitors to go back in time and experience different periods in the islands' history through fun, interactive displays. This family-friendly attraction has a variety of permanent exhibits, pictures and games featuring an array of interesting themes, like Volcanic Origin, Flourishing Madeira, and Exploring Madeira. Visitors will be able to interact with these exhibits by looking, touching and hearing, thus making it a great attraction for young and old. They will also be able to find a store here selling a selection of wonderful locally made souvenirs, as well as a café decorated with historical scenes. Those visiting the Madeira Story Centre will also get the chance to peer through the telescopes on its multifunctional panoramic terrace for incredible views of the city’s Old Town.

Muslims visiting the Madeira Story Centre will not be able to find prayer facilities at the attraction. Muslim tourists will also not be able to find any mosques, Islamic Centres or prayer rooms in the city of Funchal, which means they will have to return to their accommodation at prayer times.
As mentioned above, the Madeira Story Centre does house a café. Although visitors will be able to find a good selection of food items here, Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal certified food. Since there are also no Halal restaurants in the city of Funchal, Muslim tourists will have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes.
