A must-visit when in the Zell am See-Kaprun area is the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. It is covered in snow and ice all year round, making it one of the few of its kind in Austria. Offering a variety of fun activities for young and old, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier is a great spot for holidays with the family. Visitors can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, freeriding, hiking and mountain biking, amongst many other activities. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier also houses the Gipfelwelt 3000, which is a summit complex home to the Nationalpark Gallery, a cinema and a panorama platform. The viewing platform is located at the roof of the summit station and thus offers jaw-dropping views of the surrounding area. Visitors to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier even get the opportunity to stay overnight in igloos, at the Ice Camp.

The panorama platform
Muslim visitors will not be able to find prayer facilities on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. They could however offer their prayer outdoors if able to find a clean and quiet place. Visitors may also be able to locate a secluded place indoors at the Gipfelwelt 3000. If unable to, they could makes use of the facilities offered at the small mosque in Zell am See town.
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier has a number of restaurants and cafés, including Gipfel Restaurant; which is Salzburg’s highest restaurant, situated at 3,029 metres. While visitors will be able to find a wide variety of delicious snacks and drinks at all of the food outlets, Muslim tourists will not be able to find any outlets serving Halal certified food. They can therefore either dine on seafood and vegetarian dishes at these establishments, or they can visit one of the few Halal restaurants in the town of Zell am See.
