Looming over Nafplio’s Old Town is the oldest castle in the area, Acronafplia. Once home to an entire city, the ancient fortress is by itself a popular attraction, but the panoramic view it offers draws in a number of tourists. The attraction offers stunning views of Nafplio’s historic Old Town, including popular sites like the Fortress of Palamidi, Syntagma Square and the Castle of Bourtzi. From here they will also get to see the sun setting behind the mountains of Arcadia, which makes for a great photo op. Visitors must also make it a point to explore the castle’s ruins; the eastern section of which is the best preserved, stroll around its ramparts, and explore the Nafplia Palace Hotel which is also located here.

Muslims visiting the Acronafplia Castle will not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises. Although the town of Nafplio does have a couple of mosques, these facilities are not presently in use. Muslim tourists could therefore try to find a clean and quiet place within the fortress to offer their prayers.
The Acronafplia Castle is not known to house any cafés or restaurants. Visitors will however be able to find plenty of dining establishments in the town of Nafplio. While Muslim tourists will not be able to locate any Halal restaurants, there are sure to be many eateries serving suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes.
