Located on the hill of Saint Marcus, Neo Frourio or the New Venetian Fortress is a landmark of Corfu Town. A great example of Venetian military architecture, Neo Frourio is fascinating and well preserved and is a must-visit when in Corfu Town. This complex of fortifications overlooks the old port and consists of ramparts, impressive gates, underground shelters, ammunition storage rooms, the British barracks and so on. Also found here is the Museum of Ceramic Art, as well as an exhibition room and municipal café. While the New Fort is not as popular of an attraction as the Old Fort is, tourists must make it a point to explore the eerie mass of tunnels and the numerous rooms found here. The view from the attraction is also quite stunning.

The tunnels and rooms, and the breathtaking view
Muslims visiting the city of Corfu will not be able to find any mosques or Islamic Centres, neither will they be able to locate any prayer rooms at the major attractions in the city. They will therefore have to find a secluded place outdoors to offer their prayers, or if unable to, they will have to return to their hotel rooms at prayer times.
The Neo Frourio is known to house a café. Visitors to the landmark can therefore get a bite to eat, and relax here. Muslim tourists should be careful with what they order, since non-Halal ingredients will be used in most dishes. There are also no known Halal restaurants in Corfu Town, which means that Muslims will have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes at local non-Halal restaurants.
