The small abandoned village of Kayaköy is located in the vicinity of Ölüdeniz and the Fethiye district. The ghost town which has now been converted into a museum village, features remains of rundown houses and Greek-style buildings that date back to the 18th century. In addition to over 500 ruins of houses, churches and other structures, a 17th century water fountain and a private museum offering information on the town's fascinating history are also located. The area is considered a historical monument and was also designated a World Friendship and Peace Village by UNESCO. Plans are also being made to restore some of the ruined structures to their original appeal.
