For contemporary art enthusiasts, The Model in Sligo is an absolute must visit. This award-winning building once housed the “Model School” from which it takes its name, and is now known to house the Niland Collection of art, one of the most notable collections in the country. Visitors will come across impressive works by renowned artists such as Jack B. Yeats, Paul Henry and Estella Solomons, as well as several other acclaimed Irish twentieth century artists. Also found at this renowned location are artist studios, a bookshop, a restaurant and performance space. Those visiting the Model could also take part in one of the workshops offered, for kids and adults.

The Niland Collection of art
Muslim visitors to The Model will not be able to find prayer facilities at the attraction. They will however be able to offer their prayers at the Globe House Muslim Community, which is the only known prayer facility in Sligo. When visiting The Model, visitors can therefore ask staff to guide them to this mosque when needed.
As mentioned above, The Model does house a coffee shop and restaurant. While visitors will be able to find a variety of delicious food here, Muslim tourists will have to dine on suitable seafood and vegetarian dishes since non-Halal ingredients are sure to be widely used. There are also no known Halal restaurants in Sligo.
