Cesme is a coastal town located in the western end of Turkey. The Genovese Castlelocated along the waterfront of Cesme is the main attraction of the area. In the north-western corner of the castle is situated the main square. On the eastern end of the main square is the InkilapCaddesi the main pedestrian street of Cesme and also a major shopping district. To the south of the castle is the BeyazitCaddesi, which stalls the Marina waterfront. The street ends at the southwest end of the castle.
The old city of Cesme is filled with neo-classical buildings of Greek architecture. The buildings in the area date from the early 19th century. The Cesme Marina offers visitors with an exciting range of activities. Visitors can enjoy wind-surfing, kite boarding, swimming, etc. The Cesme Museum is a wonderful place to learn about the history of the area. There are a number of historic sites within easy reach of Cesme. These include Alacati; a historical site and Ilica; a town with thermal springs.
